The Recorded History of Casino Craps

The history of Craps dates back to a dice game referred to as Hazard, which goes back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in Early 1800’s. Hazard is believed to be a byproduct of Azzahr, meaning ‘the die’ a game enjoyed by Arabs.

The game developed as it spread out from the Arab regions to France and then to the UK. By the early 18th century, cultivated established rules for Hazard had been established. France started playing the British version of Hazard and is thought to have been imported to the us by early French settlers. In the mid-18th century, when the English beat the French in British North America, the French colonizers moved to Louisiana. Dice were played on river boats, clubs and wharfs and a modernized ‘American’ version of Craps was created. The game headed west and is a popular game that is participated in all over the U.S. and all over the world.

The name ‘Craps’ is theorized to be a French pronunciation of the word crabs, which refers to two ones. There are two basic types of Craps that are played-street Craps and bank Craps. Street caps, correctly called seeing as it is bet on the streets is where a shooter establishes a point and then tries to make that point. The betting is made either for or opposed to the player and somebody must cover the bet for the craps game to go ahead.

In casino Craps, which is the normal game, wagered on in casinos, the betting house banks the game. The players compete against the casino-the casino covers all of the bets of all of the players. Craps used to be a quite well-liked casino game but in the past twenty years had split itself and different games, like poker and black jack became more popular. However, Craps is observing a come back in popularity once again in internet betting houses and in brink and mortar casinos.
