Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Current craps formed from the old Anglo game called Hazard. No one knows for certain the ancestry of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s paladins played Hazard during a blockade on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.
Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when banished by the British, the French relocated down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair.
